Just a little something I'm writing.
Looking for a little feed back here if you guys wouldn't mind. And sorry if anything offends you, I'm a bit of a wreckless writer.
Day One
Clouds eerily drifted across the dark night sky, the stars above twinkled like the lights below, those lights to the city that saw the boy as an outsider, someone there to pollute their city, but then again when you’re the last of your kind they look at you like you’re a freak. Zephyr was used to it though, happily and lazily lounging under the stars far from the city, its lights burning as brightly as those that taunted him above in the midnight colored sky.
“Z? d**n, where did that boy go? Nevi, get away from that you don’t know what that is, jeez… Zephyr get you freaking scrawny wolf butt out here!” A female voice called out, causing the boy to grin while he slouched lower into the tall grass to hide his thin form, his ears carefully and easily picked up the sound of footsteps. He moved quickly, crouched on his toes and finger tips while the grass around him barely even shifted, once the two figures where in view he sprang into action.
“Ah shi-” The first voice called out again, glaring at Zephyr’s shadow shape as he soared through the air, she moved quicker than someone of his own skills, carefully moving out of the way yet the second shape looked up at Zeph with large eyes. He would have frozen in the air, but he was incapable of doing so, so Zephyr ended up falling towards the ground and grabbing the small form of a girl in front of him. Unlike the other girl who had moved quickly this one was much smaller and frailer, and Z feared he would break her if he landed, within seconds of grabbing her small frame in his arms Zephyr had managed to swivel and land onto his back, and hard.
“Ha ha, you deserved that you punk. Now let go of Nevi…” The first shape was back, and even in the pale moonlight Zephyr could make out exactly who it was and grin, Nyx was your average type of vampire and the only one he knew on better terms. She had long flowing straight golden blonde hair, and her skin was an iridescent pale white color, her lips where painted a bright red while her crystal blue eyes glared at him from above. Z shook his head and snuggled closer to the smaller figure in his arms, Nevina was a small fey who had lost every memory, and her voice when she was younger, that had been the first time he met the girl. She had lovely bright red hair and very large violet colored eyes that where now looking between Nyx and Zephyr with some fear. They often fought, and none too kindly with each other, now that Nevi was here it just might get worse, something for them to fight over besides the fact that Zephyr had to actually stand up for himself in town.
“No, Nevi is mine as much as she is yours and you know what… I think she likes me more.” Zephyr’s voice was soft while he cuddled with a furiously blushing Nevina, her cheeks the color of cherries while she turned her large violet eyes towards Nyx who stood there and blanched.
“Boy you must be out of your mind.” Crossing her arms Nyx just stood there and shook her head at the two, Nevi’s mouth dropped open and her breathing was labored while she started to panic, Nyx wouldn’t let Zephyr have her would she. Hot tears formed in the fey’s violet eyes and she started to shake with silent sobs, Zeph who had been content to cuddle looked at Nevi’s face and felt himself go cold, the girl was crying.
“Ah crap, now look what you did you jackass!” Nyx bent down, a hand shout out and pried Zephyr’s tanned arm off of Nevi while the other grabbed the small girl to bring her to herself and hold her close, checking for scraps or bruises quickly while shooting glares at the lounging were-wolf. So what if he was one of a kind, he was still an arrogant, thingyy, annoying, wolf that didn’t care about the consequences of his actions. “Stupid f**ktard.” Nyx muttered, using her own nickname for the boy, it was destine for the two to hate each other but that didn’t mean they where enemies, in fact they where friends though anyone wouldn’t guess so with the shouts that would come from the hill top in the middle of the night.
“You where the one who moved out of the way…” Zephyr smirked and flopped back onto the grass, watching the two girls, they both seemed to glow in the night, though Nevi’s hair was like a fire on her head, framing her face in large loose curls. Tearing his gaze away from the smaller girl Z flopped to his belly and started his ritual whining of needing food, Nyx rolled her own blue eyes and tossed the grocery bag at him, watching his gold eyes light up from beneath the curtain of black hair that flopped about his head.
“I won’t be able to come back tomorrow… That’s why I brought Nevi this time, she’ll be bringing you the food and crap that you need.” Nyx looked away to the city, its lights drawing her in, the wild didn’t suit her, she needed the loud sounds of the city and it wasn’t her fault her brother had gone out a gotten himself in trouble. Looking to the silent Nevina at her side the vampire tried her best to smile and give the girl a hug, though they where the same age the height difference was impeccable. Nyx was at least 5’6” while Nevi was a mere 4’6”, a whole foot between them, Z was watching the while digging through the plastic bag, listening to their conversation while Nyx told Nevi to watch her back the next few days, the full moon would be soon and Zephyr would be subjected to the change. He would hunt on anything that moved around him so she had to be careful and some before nightfall, the smaller girl nodded and her violet eyes looked back to see Zeph watching them, it was then the first time that the boy noticed a rim of lime green around her pupils. He blinked and the color was gone, her eyes the same eerie purple color that could stare into his soul so easily it scared him, huffing Zephyr turned away and yawned, feigning sleep.
“Yeah yeah Mr. Stupid, we’re leaving, no need to rush jeez. Come on Nevi.” Nyx rolled her eyes and stood, brushing the grass and dirt from her maroon robes as she started back for the trail, Nevi stood, glanced to Zephyr and followed. Her own small hands brushed away what little dirt there was on her own robes, casting another glance from the shadows as Zephyr rolled over and looked to the stars, she could see a faint glimmer in his eyes, tears perhaps. But Nyx was far ahead, grumbling about hating a bush, Nevi gave a weak smile to her wolf friend and started to follow the night walker with quiet steps.
Day Two
Zephyr grumbled and plucked at the grass, counting how many times he had torn the little green blades out to himself while he kept checking the horizon for any sign of Nevi, she was late of course. The girl was usually organized and the one keeping Nyx on track, why was she the one getting held up now anyways? He was grumbling when he finally stood and looked to the town, he didn’t see anyone walking away from the glittering place, and there was no way Nevina would really forget about him, she was just getting held up. Glancing up at the sky he figured he had about two hours till he lost control and the wolf would take over, that would be long enough for now to just run and find Nevi. Inhaling sharply he bolted down the hill, skipping the long and tedious trail, he knew the country side like the back of his hands and he didn’t need some dirt path to tell him where to go.
Although the lights from the city did provide him with a good view, his golden eyes where watching ahead, glancing to the path to make sure Nevi was walking out any time soon. He found the main road easily, following his nose to the strongest whiff of people, with a low grumble like growl he slowed down and moved at a brisk walk, scanning the crowd for any kind of fair folk. He ended up finding a bunch of them on the opposite side of town, but none with the same flaming red hair that Nevina had, and her scent which could so easily be found anywhere else, was covered. He growled, looking to the darkening sky with narrowed eyes, hatred burned within him, causing him to move faster again. He brushed by people who looked at him like they smelled something rotten, brushing themselves off and muttering darkly to the people around them, for no one dared to travel alone here. When you lived with your enemy you tended to move about with friends, then again unless you where like Zephyr and where the last of your kind then it didn’t really matter, but there was nagging thought. He was with the fair folk, and Nevi was a fey, and yet he couldn’t find anyone in this dammed place with red hair… Was she like him, someone of a dieing race and just wouldn’t speak about it, then again Nevi never really spoke. It was baffling on how they actually understood her, true she nodded and used body language and Zeph knew with his kind that was the main frame of communication, but what about Nyx? All these questions where just now coming to him, he stopped in front of an alley, he could hear chuckling while a group of what looked to be demons smirked and looked about, catching sight of him and sneering.
“Hey, if it isn’t Wolf Boy.” Zeph knew that voice, hell he didn’t even have to see the face, Deo was a well known demon in the city for his antics and pranks he played among the fey. He was worse than pixies, and they where enough nuisance that the law just left them alone, they where often punished by the Queen of the fey and on occasion when he made his appearance, the Summer King. Though that guy hadn’t come around for over 200 years, or so they all say, and so they had appointed the current ruler as a Queen. Don’t get Z wrong, Penelope was a lovely Queen but she wasn’t much for the other types around here.
“Deo… Is that the gang down there? What kind of fey you picking on now?” He wasn’t up to a full saving, but it never hurt to chase away these miscreants and help someone in need, it had been the way he first met Nyx who was attempting to save Nevi. In fact it was the way they had all met each other, was by saving one little kid who actually wasn’t a kid after all, and what was with the inner monologue tonight anyways? He chuckled and hooked his hands into his pockets, trying to play the role of the Big Bad Wolf which was what they had called him when they used to bring him along to their little trysts.
“Oh just some fey girl, never seen one like it either. Bright red hair, huge eyes, man she was a looker and she just turned us all down like that, so the boy’s are down there getting ready to show her a good time. You want a turn-” Deo didn’t have time to finish, when he turned to look at Zephyr the other boy was gone, already silently running down the alley, D just smirked and shook his head. He started after the guy slowly, eyes closed and head tilted back, that is until he heard yells and screams from his guys, blinking Deo caught sight of one of his own demon buddies thrown at him. Barely dodging the guy he caught sight of Zephyr’s fist flying for his face, carrying there prize in his other arm and a glint in his eyes that was meant to kill.
“You know Deo, if it had been any other fey I would have let you without having to pummel you, but you picked wrong.” With that he threw a fist into D’s face with an excited grin on his lips, though his eyes stayed razor sharp and angry while he clutched a shaking Nevi to him. The girl’s robes lay back on the floor, her long and white flowing dress cut in places where some blood tinged the edges, they had gotten a little too close with the knife. Just thinking about it turned Zeph’s vision go red as he snarled and the beast within flickered in his eyes, turned them bright and restless, the need for the kill as his fingers turned into long sharp claws and aimed for the throat of his prey. There was a smack to his cheek and Z blinked too look at a frowning Nevina in his arms who shook her head, hair flopping about her pale face and her large violet eyes holding nothing but fear.
“You got lucky Deo, I would have killed you… Next time I see you, or any of your buddies even getting close to Nevi, I won’t be so lenient.” He practically snarled out as he roughly shouldered another approaching demon out of the way, what where demons doing in fey territory anyway? Zephyr had been out of the city for awhile but he was sure they still had designated sections they all belonged in, that’s how it always was, either was once they where at the edge of the city he set Nevina down. Something hit his arm while he turned away, light and hardly enough to be a hand, though when he looked back Nevi was standing there with her hands balled into small fists and her violet eyes where narrowed at him, anger burning into him.
“What?!?! I save your small, scrawny, little butt and now your hitting me! Unless you wanted to get raped cause you know some fey girls are kinky like that, but I wouldn’t have guessed you to be like that.” Zephyr looked around then looked at Nevi when he was done, her mouth was parted slightly and he could see a bruise forming on her pale skin where someone had hit her in the cheek, her lower lip bleeding slightly. “Oh come on, don’t look so taken back, you thought they would buy you dinner first or something, jeez.” He grumbled, putting his hands into the pockets of his worn out jeans and rolling his eyes at her. She glared again, turned and began to stomp barefoot away before stopping and pulling her foot up to grip it with both hands while she fell back to her butt and started to examine the injured limb. Zeph rolled his golden eyes, the girl was a walking problem, how in the d**n world did Nyx handle her without having to treat some kind of wound within minutes of each other.
“Just a quick question but where does Nyx buy all the band-aids cause I don’t think I’ll have enough for just today.” Z chuckled while he flopped onto his own butt in front of Nevi and sighed, leaning back he looked to sky and froze, the sun was gone and the stars where out. The moon. Right above him, looming large and yellow, full as a dinner plate and seeming to threaten to crush him right there in the city, the few fey folk mingling about stopped to stare at him. Nevi looked to the sky, her violet eyes became wide then flicked back to Zephyr, he looked to be in a trance like state, and every muscle in his body was slowly tensing up. Panicked she stood and started to wave her hands in the air, a silent plea for the people to leave and quickly while she ran at them like a crazed would to scare off a predator. It worked really, but when she came back to Zephyr he was curled on his side, heaving and staring still, though tears mounted his eyes and slid down his cheeks. Nevi knelt beside him, a small hand brushing away his tears while she frowned, Z never cried, never around other people, not even Nyx had seen him cry before and here he was. Double in pain, conflicting with his mind and body, keeping the animal at bay and all Nevina could do was try and comfort which ever side it was that controlled the body. One of his hands shot up and grabbed her wrist, locking his fingers there while pain crossed his face and made his forehead crease as though he where in deep thought, a stern look. Yet his eyes pleaded for her too run, that is until a manic glee had replaced the fear and guilt in those golden depths, not when he smiled there where fangs, not the normal kind she was used to seeing. Not long, tapered, thin vampire like fangs, but large and canine like, and they looked razor sharp in that mouth she had seen smile sweetly to her too many times. With a silent sob she tugged at her hand, but Zeph’s grip tightened around her wrist and she panicked, biting her lower lip and watching as his nose flared, smelling her blood that seeped slowly from her small cuts. Tears began to fall from her violet eyes, this could be the end, the death of the fey girl everyone picked on, and although it would be sweet release she never dreamed it would be at the hands that once held her so tenderly.
“No…” She croaked out, scratched voice from years forgotten use, and yet there it was, coming from her parted lips as the tears slid down, she wasn’t ready to die now, not by Zephyr. She frowned and tugged at her arm again, Zeph was now glaring at her, unused to a struggle from someone, unused to the fact that the more human part of him was fighting to keep control.
“Silence!” He hissed at her, the grip on her wrist tightening while claws started to form and fur began to sprout, thick black fur along his body while it started twisting and cracking at impossible angles. Something started to sprout behind him, and her gaze was torn away from that terrible face to watch a bloody tail flick out and sprout fur, she shivered and felt the grip leave her arm. Yet she couldn’t move, fear paralyzed her and she looked up at the face of a very large wolf, snarling and narrowing it’s golden eyes at her, the pupils so dilated they where like pinpoints while they widened again and strange throaty chuckle came from him.
Her brain was screaming run, yet her muscles contracted and became tensed while she awaited his strike, her violet eyes watching his wolf face like it was so foreign to her, something she had never seen. Slowly she smiled to him, something so sweet and innocent, digging down deep into that fey magic locked within, and she did the only thing she could remember at that point, she spoke.
“I know you don’t want to do this Zephyr, and you don’t have too… Sleep, let the fey guide you into a slumber of sweet dreams.” Her hand began to tingle and she touched the wolf’s head, feeling something slipping within her and some connection tie, a silver glow spread from her hand and onto the furry head. The golden eyes widened at her, then fluttered closed while the muscles tensed and released quickly, and the wolf form of Zephyr fell to the ground in what almost looked like a boneless heap. Feeling tired and drained Nevi hung her head, her hand came back to her side and she too fell, landing onto the wolf’s back and slipping into a peaceful dream.
Day Three
Struggling awake Zephyr twitched and practically flayed when he felt something warm snuggled to him, golden eyes shot open and he started to freak, his breathing going from the calm of sleep to panicked huffs. Glancing down he found a crumpled and distraught looking Nevina, blinking his eyes at his naked appearance he couldn’t help but flush and look about. He was in town, and dawn was about to break, all kinds of creatures would see him like this, a fey girl curled to his side, his heart skipped a beat as he quickly removed her head from his stomach and dashed out of the city and to the fields he knew. Zeph wasn’t used to waking up like that, as if he had slept like any other night, usually he was cramped into a ball and completely unaware of what had happened, blood smeared across his body. Sure the nudeness of it all was common, but he almost expected that now a days when the full moon plague would overcome him, it’s not like he had someone of more expertise to guide him at those times, he was the last wolf.
“damn…” He muttered, feeling his empty, aching belly with a hand before arriving in his original spot and found his stash of extra clothes, he slid on another pair of jeans a simple white cotton t-shirt that stretched over his torso. He sniffed, of course he couldn’t stash food here, it wasn’t worth the trouble of fending off others that would come sniffing about looking for a free meal, wither they be animal or some kind of two legged being. Glancing back to town he wondered how long it would be until Nevi awoke and would come after him, had Z hurt her when he was changed, the lust for the kill was something he couldn’t handle around others… Frowning he flopped into the tall grass, kicking his bare feet into the air above him and feeling the breeze tickle his skin, teasing it into goose flesh while a shiver shot down his back. Now this was the life, living out in the open and casually lounging about, better than having to run around for his life in the city, steal to get food, and be on every ones most wanted list. He sniffed, as if he was better than them all, someone who didn’t need anybody. But what about Nevina and Nyx, he needed them in order to live, but that wasn’t important now was it, he could always go back to Deo and his gang of rag-tag demons and live like a thief again. But hadn’t he sworn to himself he wouldn’t do it, wouldn’t go back to that cruel town and let the people in it mock him, even Nyx would turn her back in fear of her Coven turning on her. And Nevi… She was just as much of an outcast as he, so why could she live in the city, wasn’t it frightening without someone there to protect her, how did she spend her days now anyway with Nyx gone for who knows how long. Vampire trials could take forever, he was frowning now, scrunching his nose so much that he almost missed the smell that traveled on the wind towards him from behind.
“Father, I found a boy!” An unknown voice called out, and Zeph couldn’t help but lift himself to his elbows and looked about for the source, a girl not much younger than himself ran out from the woods looking peppy and utterly excited. She was obviously human as she bolted for him, not sensing the danger that emitted from his tensed form, though another voice billowed from behind her with commanding force.
“Emily, don’t get too close!” A grizzled old man walked out from the shadows, carrying a very wicked looking walking stick as he grumbled about the brambles sticking to him, Zephyr stood up slowly. He didn’t like these two on his property when he was going to be unpredictable, narrowing his golden eyes at the girl who had been promptly called Emily, he hoped to scare her away by putting on his game face and growling low and deep in his chest.
“Better listen to the old man girl, he knows what he’s talking about…” He turned and began to pace into the woods, angry he had to actually leave the place he considered home yet he would be keeping these people safe.
“Wait wolf… Yes I know what you are, and there is no need to run.” The old man smiled, his teeth weren’t the best, slightly crooked and they where starting to yellow, the girl however beamed up at him with the brightest smile he had ever seen, ecstatic for some odd reason that seemed unknown. Putting a tanned hand onto the girl’s chestnut hair he smiled kindly to her before looking up at Zephyr, he raised a gray brow and chuckled. “Surprised you didn’t I.” He chuckled again and started to walk closer to Zeph, leaving the girl behind by dumping his stuff off with her as she began to sort through it and blinking her caramel eyes at the various things she was pulling out.
“And how is it you knew I was a wolf…” His golden eyes blinked, he would have bristled his fur, that is if he had any, as for now the hair along the back of his neck stood on end and his skin was itchy. He wouldn’t dare change in front of these people, but if they continued to taunt him so then he would have too, the beast was awakening within him and already there was that metallic gleam in his eyes, the one that gave him a deadly look. The old man smirked, he knew what magic was at force here, the girl however simply froze for a minute and sensed the change on the air, something changing from wary to, well something with almost a insane glee for the kill.
“Papa..?” The girl was once again wondering too close again, the smell of her was making the beast inside Zeph squirm with pleasure, it had been awhile since he had last tasted human, almost a total of 120 years. Turning his head away to mask the evil thoughts that could probably easily have been read on his face the wolf boy twitched a hand and snarled angrily, what did this guy want with him anyway, was he some kind of specialist or something?
“Be calm wolf… Emily, go back to the city and find Ethan, we may need him.” The older man stepped towards Zeph now, and he couldn’t help but feel his bony structure move into a crouch, muscles tense while he snarled and bared his teeth at the human who only chuckled and moved again. “I have dealt with your kind before, never one so young and naïve though I must say… Might want to bring Jeremy too.” He stepped back and the girl behind him nodded in silent agreement and darted for the tree line, she stopped like so many people had, to look back at the monster that was threatening her life. Zephyr smirked, it would have been a good chance to move in as doubt clouded her features, but this old man and the human part of him made the tense muscles lock up to where he was the open one. Fear engulfed him, he didn’t want to kill, didn’t want to see these random people slaughtered by his own hands and claws, the fear written on the girls face was only making it harder to control. With a shiver Zeph hunkered down after Emily was gone, hiding his head in his hands while he savagely gripped at his own hair, ready to tear it out with anger and the need to kill something.
“ Get away… Run as fast and far as you can old man.” Zephyr snarled out again, his whole frame shaking now while he began to slowly move from his crouch into something else, more predatory than before as manic glee spread across his head. Just kill him, and when the girl brings the other back you can kill them too… They will be good to hunt, strong young men to take down. A good chase. There was that voice, the one that taunted him into acting this way, it was in his head again and doing what it did best, appealing to the beast inside of him. He growled low, digging his claws into his skull as the voice continued to buzz in his head, telling him to kill, rip, bite, and eat the flesh of those around him, to suffice the guilt like it was a medal, he should be proud of what he had killed. He could feel hot tears at his eyes again, something he didn’t often do was cry and much less in front of someone he didn’t know, and yet there was a snap in the back of his mind, the hazy fog of evil was lifting and being penetrated but a bright light. The voice taunting him was drowned out by a soft humming in his head, something that calmed him, made those tense muscles relax as Zeph’s breathing returned to normal and looked about with clear eyes.
“So your tamed… Never expected one as young as you to be so whipped, must be a strong hunter then, let me guess. Demon?” The old man had dared to step closer when Zephyr was in his trance like state, he was now down on one knee and smiling at the boy with yellowing teeth and cold eyes. “Maybe a human, but you would have a collar then, something to signify owner ship so no one came and took you away…” His eyes screwed up now, watching the wolf carefully before he swiveled back to see Emily and two tall built boys, one carrying a large bag the other a smaller object that was struggling and wrapped in a navy colored velvet robe. “Ah boy’s, you brought me a present? Well bring it here.” He chuckled and stood, moving to stand close to Zeph’s side with his back turned towards the town, his grin was malicious while the young Emily worked with deft fingers to untie the complicated knot around the robe. Finally small feet poked from under the covers, the dirty cream and brown stained edges of a long white flowing dress, and the scent of lavender mingled with dust and decay from the robe as the creature whimpered and began to sway from side to side while walking.
“Found this one on our way back, seemed pretty lost and though you might like another child to care for pop.” It was the boy who was still holding another bag, probably full of the supplies as a tearful Emily snuggled to his wide chest, the girl seemed to shake and now in the fragmented sunlight her brown hair was giving off a warm glow, sea blue eyes full of tears as she watched her feet. The boy was now watching the girl, worry written across every inch of his face, his own hair was a strawberry blonde color and his eyes a dark muddy brown that squinted to look first at the small girls head then look through his lashes at the other guy.
“Oh well don’t I feel privileged, and must you take such slow deliberate steps Ethan? Jeremy, take Emily away, we don’t need another break down now do we…” The old mans voice had taken on an almost angry edge, sharp and ready to cut anyone to pieces if they got in the way of what was walking towards him now covered in the navy colored velvet robe. The boy nodded, the shaggy red-brown hair flopped about his clean shaven face while the dark blue eyes took on an almost hurt expression, he looked more related to Emily than the other boy, Ethan. The boy looked almost pained as he held the small walking figure with his large hands, but they weren’t forcing, just guiding the seemingly floating object towards the two. Zephyr tensed, ready to defend himself, but that soothing humming and the lazy fog in his brain stopped him from getting up, instead he found himself on his butt, propped back on his hands and knees in the air, a very open position he wouldn’t have done willingly in front of such foreign people.
“Pop…” Ethan stopped, his head was down and his eyes squinted, was he rethinking what they had planned, it was true when Zeph looked up he saw some maniac glee in the old mans eyes and it was almost disturbing in a way that he seemed so happy about it. Zeph actually snarled and bared his fangs, he could smell fear coming from the small creature in Ethan’s grasp, suddenly the figure began to struggle and whimper, muffled as if there was cloth in the way of it’s speech. But either way the haze in his head lifted and the soothing melody became panicked screeching that hurt his ears and made the beast inside him roar and snarl, with quick movements Zephyr had the old man on the floor with a hand on his neck and glaring his golden eyes at Ethan.
“Let the child go boy, or this man will be seeing his last sunset.” Zeph smirked for effect, he didn’t want to kill anyone but some sort of protective side of him had been activated, and it wasn’t only him, the wolf inside was bearing fangs at this new threat. There was something wrong with this picture and it wasn’t going to well in his opinion, his fingers began to shift to a massive paw with long claws that where ready to tear open the soft flesh beneath it. The rustle in the bushes was something Zeph tended to ignore, but at this current position he couldn’t help but swivel his head and stare like a scared deer would. There lay the old mans walking stick, being moved by the old man himself, and when Zephyr looked back to him there was a fist and a grin ready for him, and before he knew it the were wolf’s world was somewhere far off while he flopped onto the ground, listening to terrified screeches and sobs play over in his head.
He awoke in a very dizzying position, his feet seemed to be on the sky, his head only inch from the ground for Zephyr could feel his hair touching the ground while he heard a disapproving grunt from somewhere to his left. Blinking his golden eyes and swiveling his head Zeph was soon looking up at a very angry looking old man, the sunset behind him making the sky behind him an angry red and matching the mood of both man and wolf perfectly.
“Ready to cooperate, boy?” The old man smirked and chuckled at the thought, with the toe of his boot he nudged Zephyr’s temple and sent waves of pain tingling up his spine and into his toes, an angry snarl ripped from his throat as he fought against the ropes that bounded him. It was useless, the more he fought the tighter the ropes got and the closer his head got to the floor, so unless he wanted to sacrifice his limbs to keep his head Zeph figured he would be dieing soon unless the old man got nice and let him down.
“I have a name old man… It’s Zephyr.” He snarled again, this time taking the nudging with only a glare and clenching his fists, resisting the urge to just let his hands and feet snap off as long as his jaws worked he would be fine. But Zeph wouldn’t be fine, there was a strange feeling with him, like a part of him was there but just out of reach, his eyes began to frantically search the clearing for it but all he could see was Ethan struggling over something.
“Hmm… Well then, Zephyr, you can call me pa, pop, dad, father. You know, anything of the likes.” He chuckled, a grin on his face that was strange and almost scared the human part of Zeph at first, sending a shiver down his spine until another snarl ripped from his lips. “Welcome to your new family.” He turned and walked into the clearing, raising his arms while Emily and Jeremy appeared from the woods, carrying bags of supplies and holding hands, yet there hands dropped and an almost guilty look crossed their faces before the glanced down and wondered farther into the clearing towards Ethan. They began to talk in hushed whispers and the old man had turned now, holding something shiny in his left hand, a smile on his lips before he threw it, Zeph could have sworn the thing was aimed for his head. Yet he felt the ropes loosen around his wrists and his ankles while he flopped to the ground, tucking his head to hit his shoulders Zephyr snarled and went immediately into a crouch for a tackle.
“Emily, get this girl to hold still, seriously! She won’t stop fidgeting with me…” Ethan called out angrily, stalking away from a crouched form, bright flame red hair making Zeph’s golden eyes instantly go towards what he couldn’t believe, they hadn’t had they? Snarling again she skittered towards the boy and narrowed his eyes, they wouldn’t have even dared to take her if Nyx had been there, or Zeph had actually done the better thing and met her halfway down the path. Standing up straight he walked forward, tension shown in every muscle of his body while he smiled his best and gave a small nod of his head when near the others.
“I believe I may be of service here.” Taking the squirming bundle from the boy he tore the cloth away, inhaling sharply when he found those large purple eyes full of fear and old crusted blood smeared below her nose. His arms went around the girl instantly as he hugged Nevi close who began to cry small and almost silent sobs, her thin arms around Zeph’s waist and holding him as close to her as possible, every inch of her was shaking.
“Ah… So you know each other, that’s a shame then when I decide to sell one of you.” The old man came walking up, some device twirling around one finger in a long and think chain, a dangerous smile spread across his lips while he blinked slowly. Running a hand through his graying hair the man lifted his device, looked back down at Zephyr and struck him once, everything spun out of control and went black while he listened to Nevi screaming.
